Exhortation | This Keeps You Running

Every race has a finish line. I’ve been contemplating this as we come to the end of our series “This Keeps You Running.” In the race, you have a choice to either quit or cross that finish line – over the last four weeks we’ve aimed for the latter. We hope God, through Hebrews 12, has encouraged you to keep running the race that is set before you with the finish line in sight. The end of Hebrews 12 gives us encouragement to keep running to the finish and not quit.
Discipline | This Keeps You Running

When you hear the word “discipline,” what comes to mind? For me, I immediately think of the time my middle school football coach called me out in front of my classmates for talking in the locker room and into his office … ouch! As a seventh grader I didn’t understand what I understand now about discipline, and that is that discipline disciples. I can’t wait to discover with you the significance discipline plays as we keep on running the race that is set before us.
Love | In View of God

My wife loves greeting cards. She’s always intentional about picking out just the right card. One time I picked out a greeting card for her to express my love for her. And instead of writing “selfless” I mistakenly wrote the word “selfish.” That’s what I call a love fail. As we continue our series “In View of God” we are going to see that God is love and that His love never fails.
Holiness | In View of God

Today we begin a series we are calling “In View of God”! Some view God as a cosmic kill joy who is anxiously waiting for them to slip up. Some see Him as a Santa Clause-like being who showers them with love as long as they are good and not bad. And some view Him like a distant relative who lives far away but is disengaged in their life. What about you? How do you see God?
Sanctified | Status Update

Earlier this year Coca-Cola launched their “Because I Can” campaign. In the initial commercial for the campaign an actress holding a Diet Coke with confidence and a slightly cocky smile says, “Just Do You, Whatever That Is.” Coca-Cola believes that to attract millions of North Americans to their product they must advertise the individual as king. You may be thinking, “I don’t even drink Coke, so what does this have to do with me?” To find out join us today. We will finish up our sermon series #statusupdate, discussing the Word and Work of God and the rhythm of the Christian life.
Diligent | Status Update

The number of minutes or hours we spend scrolling through our phone or device checking others’ status updates would surprise you. We seem fixated on knowing what our friends, co-workers and those high school classmates we’ve not seen since graduation are thinking! But how about what God is thinking? Have you thought about what’s on His mind? In this series we will look at several urgent messages God has for us: messages of love, forgiveness, thankfulness and maturity.
Wonder Transforms Us | For the Life of the World

With Google, Alexa, Facebook and Netflix the waiting we once had to experience is nearly gone. No longer do we have to visit a library, just search Google or ask Alexa. No longer do we have to wait to see our friend face to face to find out what’s happening in their life, just scroll through Facebook. And no longer do we have to wait a week to learn what’s going to happen next on our favorite television show, just binge Netflix. However, in this new era of no longer having to wait are we losing our sense of wonder?
Blessing as Family | For the Life of the World

Many of us treat our salvation in Jesus like my wife and I treat the church pew that’s in our garage. Recently someone gave us the church pew, and we have plans to use it in the future on our outdoor patio or in our living room. But as for today it’s not being used; it’s just sitting in the garage. Do you think of your salvation as something you will use later, something that has eternal significance but not really everyday significance?
What To Do When The Church Disappoints You

“What to do when the church disappoints you” was the unanimous topic selected from a recent survey we posted on the church’s Facebook page. I think most people would agree, it’s not a matter of “if” the church will disappoint you, but “when” the church will disappoint you. We’ll discover what the Bible teaches about not giving up when we find ourselves frustrated, hurt, or discouraged.
Perseverance | Teach Us to Pray

Those outside the church, and probably some inside, think of Christianity as a stifling religion with a lot of “thou shalt nots” to obey. Not only is this unfortunate, it is simply untrue. As we continue our sermon series in which we are asking Jesus to “teach us to pray,” we will discover an unbelievable invitation Jesus extends to each of us. It is an invitation that can revolutionize our own lives and the lives of those around us.
