Have you ever lost a sock? I wonder where they all go? Well, as bad as losing a sock can be, it typically isn’t a life changing event. But there are days when we come face to face with a serious crisis. A crisis may happen at a doctor’s appointment, a conversation with your spouse’s lawyer, the bank declining your request or even at work with your boss. That moment leaves us feeling like we have been punched in the gut. It hurts. It leaves us in shock. What is your battle plan when you come face to face with a crisis that is life changing? Outside The Box | Behold Him

If I’m being honest, most of the time I think “inside the box.” But occasionally in order to come up with a solution, I have to think “outside the box.” Well 2000 years ago, after the Law and the Prophets had not achieved their desired purposes, God came up with a solution for mankind’s redemption that was outside the box. And His miraculous solution – with the help of an amazing teenage girl – is what we get to look at together this Sunday. I’m excited to share the story with you then. Merry Christmas, beloved!

Person of the Year | Behold Him

This week Time magazine announces its anticipated “Person of the Year” for 2020 (my vote goes to those in education and to essential workers – the nurses, doctors, delivery people, and grocery-store employees). What if this award was announced around 2000 years ago? People like Caesar Augustus and Herod the Great would likely make the list of nominees. One not likely to make the list is Jesus’ earthly father, Joseph. Scripture doesn’t say much about him, but he is like the unsung hero of the Christmas story. He was on the verge of sending Mary away when she became pregnant, but instead, he chose to stay with her. Like me, you might be wondering, “How does Joseph go from ‘I’m out’ to ‘I’m in’?"

To Behold | Behold Him

Have you ever been to a museum of some kind and gazed intently at a work of art – just sitting there for a little while and pondering it? The biblical word for “gazing intently” is behold. And, while works of art are often truly amazing and worthy of beholding, nothing is more worthy to behold than the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ (John 1:19-29).
