About Alexander (Sandu) Dobrei
Sandu (Stefan Alexandru) Dobrei is a Baptist pastor who was called by God to serve in his home country, Romania, near the area where he was born, in small rural churches, in Moneasa. Sandu has been serving for 25 years with passion and dedication to the Lord, preaching the Gospel to children, young people and people regardless of age, religion, ethnicity and social status.
Being oriented toward the internal and external mission, he actively engages by going, financially supporting and encouraging missionaries from the country and abroad. Over the years he was actively involved in evangelizing disadvantaged areas of the country, especially in Oltenia, where he also planted a church among the gypsies in the city of Strehaia. As a result of his ministry, he had the joy of seeing hundreds of children, young people and people in the country surrender their lives to the Lord Jesus, faithfully following Him and being baptized. More than 100 people (teenagers, young people, men and women) from all over the country were personally baptized by him. These people are now saved by faith in Jesus Christ. For several years he has been actively involved in mentoring churches with organizational and leadership problems, as well as in supporting, equipping and mentoring younger pastors so that they can be as effective as possible in the ministry.
Sandu has been married for over 26 years to Teodora and they have two daughters, Naomi and Doroteea. They live with Sandu’s parents (Nelu and Fira) in Revetis. Thanks to the support provided by the family, Sandu managed to have an effective and impactful work in Moneasa, Oltenia and throughout the country.
About Moneasa
Moneasa is a small village in western Romania with an approximate population of only 600 inhabitants, located at the foot of the Apuseni Mountains, where there is a Balneo Climate resort where rheumatic and nervous system diseases are treated. The majority population is of Romanian ethnicity and Orthodox religion. Considering themselves Christians, the Monesians and Romanians in general are imprisoned for the Gospel, practicing a formal, ritualistic and non-biblical Christianity. In this context, it’s hard enough to have access to biblical truths in people’s lives to be transformed and born again. Over the years, God has used Sandu in a special way in Moneasa. On the one hand, the number of members of the Hope Baptist Church in Moneasa (BBSM) has doubled. When he began his ministry in Moneasa, the church had only a few members, most of whom were elderly. Now, the number of church members has doubled and the church has become known in the locality, in the country and abroad. On the other hand, tourists who come to Moneasa for recreation or recovery need spiritual assistance. Within Hope Church they are offered an open and friendly environment for healing and spiritual refreshing. Many tourists from the country and abroad were touched by God through the service of Sandu in BBSM.
Sandu is supported in the pastoral ministry of Moneasa by his wife and two daughters who are involved in the work with children and in the musical work of BBSM.
Sandu wants to remain under the authority of God and the Bible, being useful to his people through his ministry.
