About Beautiful Feet

In the early 1980’s, a group of students from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary shared coffee, donuts, and the Gospel with some homeless men and women sleeping in the Fort Worth Water Gardens. Among these students were Mike Myers and Johnny Buckner (the founders of Beautiful Feet Ministries). These outdoor services, sometimes consisting of hundreds of homeless, continued until 1985. Soon the homeless were brought to local churches for services. It was quickly realized that the homeless needed a church of their own and the beginning of Beautiful Feet Ministries.

In 1985, a location was found on East Hattie Street to provide a church for the homeless in the area. The first floor was a soup kitchen operated by Franciscan Monks and a medical office run by Dr. Capper and volunteer nurses. The second floor was mostly abandoned besides the local pigeons who made this habitat their home. Mike and the team renovated this facility and in 1986, Beautiful Feet Ministries was officially opened.
