Episode 39: The Lobby Ceiling Got Painted

Episode 39: The Lobby Ceiling Got Painted

Finishing up the back wall of the new Worship Center — also known as our “billboard” ????

It’s funny… we’re right on I-20, yet somehow still hiding in plain sight.

For years, folks drove past thinking we were just part of the school. (Honestly, fair guess.)

At least now this giant wall sends a signal that something other than carpool lines is going on back here.

Caught this as I was leaving work last week!!

I had never thought about how they move those giant construction trash bins around.

Turns out they’ve got tiny wheels on the back, the truck tilts like a ramp, and then… they just pull the whole thing up with cables and roll it on.

It’s weirdly fun to watch.

Rafe got these awesome drone photos of the new Worship Center, and I wanted to share them with you first!

It’s wild how much bigger it looks when you see it next to the rest of our campus.

(And if you see Rafe at church, give him a high five for these shots.)

Episode 39: The Lobby Ceiling Got Painted

They’re getting ready to pour the rest of the sidewalk…

…which means we are this close to being OUT OF THE MUD!!!

(My shoes are already grateful.)

And here, too!

This little stretch of sidewalk might end up being the first step someone takes toward meeting Jesus.

(Kind of sweet to think about.)

Imagine this space being full of the church!  ????

(Nope, no typo – “the church” meaning “lots of people who love Jesus!!! Woohoo!!” ????)

And today… they poured it!!!

I can’t wait to walk on this new stretch of sidewalk.

(And yes, I resisted leaving a handprint in the concrete — even though the idea crossed my mind. Multiple times.)

I actually stood here and watched them work for a while because it’s just. so. FASCINATING.

And while they’re at it, they’re also finishing that tiiiiny section of concrete back there.

I mean, might as well, right?

Episode 39: The Lobby Ceiling Got Painted

The lobby ceiling is officially painted, folks.

Now all we need are glow-in-the-dark star stickers.

Episode 39: The Lobby Ceiling Got Painted

The lobby is really starting to take shape!

(Just added a few labels so you can get your bearings.)

Inside the Worship Center, they’re putting primer on the back wall.

And the stage! Now with black ceiling accents.

The stage actually looks smaller to me now that all the walls are up — funny how that works.

Walk around with me!

One thing I learned after filming this video is that in the bathroom areas, the walls are gray on the bottom and white on top because the gray section is where the tile will go.

About These Updates

This is a casual, behind-the-scenes look at the Worship Center construction at Trinity. I’m Krista Gordon, Communications Director, armed with a phone camera and curiosity, a pretty consistent track record of confusing water pipes with electrical things, and an AI buddy who helps turn my construction confusion into comedy.

I may not know much about construction, but here’s one thing I do know: as Pastor Eric often reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1). Watching this Worship Center rise right outside our offices is a tangible reminder that our true foundation is built on Christ alone.

To Him be all the glory!
