Can you picture it now?!
The Worship Center is finally taking shape — and it’s tall!
Deacon Fish was right: when it was just a footprint, it felt small. But now, with the steel up, you can really see the scale — it’s as tall as the three-story Preschool Ministry building behind it.
Noice. (If you know, you know.)
Soooo… I’m trying not to be judgy here, but it’s hard not to notice they’re loading those mats at a slightly crooked angle.
I’m sure it’s intentional — the result of some deep construction knowledge — but my inner perfectionist wants to go jump on that forklift and straighten it out myself.
(Possibly a bit of inner control freak in the mix, too, now that I think about it.)

And may I present to you: The Extended Reach Forklift.
Shoutout to Randy for confirming last week that it’s not just a forklift — and for proving he reads these emails.
Or his sweet wife does, and makes sure he replies. ????

And while we’re at it…
THIS, my construction-loving friends, is a scissor lift.
(Special thanks to Randy and Brent for keeping me honest on the equipment names.)
I feel like we should all be getting Continuing Education credits — for the 1/3 of these emails where we’re actually learning legit facts about construction.
The other 2/3 where I just make stuff up? Well… that’s between me and Jesus.

In case you, like me, need a little help visualizing it — here’s a labeled look at what’s what.
(Because without labels, I’d just be calling everything “that part over there.”)

They’ve been busy laying down yellow plastic — the layer that goes in before the concrete pour (date still TBD).
And that rebar sticking straight up at the front?
Pretty sure it’s there to keep Pastor Joel from leaping off the stage and attempting to crowd surf. (A wise and necessary precaution.)

Aaaaaaand, one final view from the secret stairway.
(What? You still haven’t figured out where it is??)
Thursday, July 17

Check out this awesomeness that was waiting for me when I got to work this morning.
Now THIS is an extended reach forklift!!
Suddenly questioning all my life choices that led me to a desk job.

Okay people — audience participation time: Would you rather ride on the scissor lift… or the extended reach forklift?
I was leaning toward the scissor lift… but now I’m imagining the zipline possibilities with the forklift.

They’re filling in the dirt where the stage will be.
Except… if you squint and ignore the dirt, it kind of looks like they’re building a pool.
Y’all.
How awesome would it be if there were a pool under the stage???!!!
What was that movie where the dance floor started coming apart while people were dancing — and then two people fell in???
I’m just sayin’, it might not be too late to update the plans. I mean… they haven’t even poured the concrete yet.

Jesus says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
There are people who labor — striving to earn God’s favor, to be good enough, or even to run away from Him.
And there are people who are heavy laden — carrying the world on their shoulders, not knowing what it’s like to have Someone help carry the load.
People you know.
People you’ve been praying for for years.
If you haven’t yet, ask God to give you the courage to talk with them about the rest that comes from following Jesus.
Or invite them to TBC, so they can hear about the One who carries burdens.
That’s all I’m sayin’.
About These Updates
This is a casual, behind-the-scenes look at the Worship Center construction at Trinity. I’m Krista Gordon, Communications Director, armed with a phone camera and curiosity, a pretty consistent track record of confusing water pipes with electrical things, and an AI buddy who helps turn my construction confusion into comedy.
I may not know much about construction, but here’s one thing I do know: as Pastor Eric often reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1). Watching this Worship Center rise right outside our offices is a tangible reminder that our true foundation is built on Christ alone.
To Him be all the glory!
