Three weeks ago…

Thought Darren was volunteering as signage.
Turns out he’s just showing me where it’s going.

Darren does NOT give up.
He is fully committed to making sure I can visualize where this sign is going.
I’m doing a great job pretending I can picture it.

No idea what’s happening up there.
Mostly just realizing my window to ride a scissor lift is closing fast.

Something important is happening in here.
I can tell by the equipment.

While I’m waiting to find someone important to explain what’s going on,
I did notice they filled the grout lines. Very smooth.
This lobby is going to be an excellent place to rollerblade.

I got my answer!
They’re grinding down the floor so they can put some shiny stuff on it to seal it.
Obviously… I didn’t quite catch what the shiny stuff is.

I will never get over the random things people know how to do.
They take all that dirty water from grinding the floor, add this powder, and it turns into some kind of jelly-putty so it can be disposed of safely.
I mean… who comes up with this??

Two-ish weeks ago…

Remember Darren?
These are the foundations for those signs.
You don’t remember Darren???
Okay. That’s on me. Let me help…

Starting to ring a bell?

Two weeks ago…

Looks like the shiny stuff has officially been applied.
And I am not allowed in.

They let me in anyway! Apparently it was already dry.
So shiny! (Moana fans… you know what to do.)

Folks! We’ve got ourselves a brand-new driveway coming in!

Living the dream—getting paid to play in mud.

AND we get a turn lane!!!!!!!
I’m a big fan of not getting rear ended.

This week… the LAST week before we are in the new Worship Center!!!

Our Kids area looks AMAZING!!
Kids are not going to want to leave 😄
Great job, Shanen & Laura!!!

Kind of wild that this is the last update… and I won’t need my (ahem… Max’s) hot pink hard hat and vest anymore.
He did have to pry it out of my hands… but I eventually gave it back.
Thanks, Max, for answering all my questions, laughing when I misquoted you, and being steady through this whole project.
Also… I know where you keep the vest. 😄

Just so you can picture Joel and his guitar up there.
I assume this is exactly as helpful as Darren was.

Well… the Worship Center sign is gone.
Because it’s… not there anymore. 😄
Unapologetic teaser:
Watch the video for a quick update on what we’re calling things up here now.

Welcome to The Porch (yep, that’s what we’re calling it now).
Kids getting all their energy out,
students hanging out on Wednesday nights,
meeting new friends on Sunday mornings…
and the occasional rollerblade derby.
Also… I’m already planning to claim a corner out here on the next rainy day.

Max has officially relocated his Bat Cave (aka storage container, aka portable construction office).
And just like that… prime parking unlocked.

Cool parking lot signs: check. ✅

We have turf, folks!!!!! 🌱
This is going to be great for hanging out as a community.
Don’t worry… they’ll iron out the wrinkles.
It won’t always look like the green giant just woke up from a nap. 😄
(Also, if you got my green giant reference… you’re probably over 40 and grew up on canned veggies. We turned out just fine.)

DARREN!!! I can see it now!!!
(You were… surprisingly accurate.)

Adding some finishing touches in here…
Including your new favorite seat-back activity: scanning QR codes. 📱

And finishing touches here…
This campus entrance is officially ready to use. 🚗

Aaaaaaand THIS old entrance is about to become extra parking spots…
RIP to the turn we all knew and trusted.
Hello, more places to park. 🙌🚗
Wednesday, March 25

This was our first time gathering in the new Worship Center.
Not a full Sunday yet… just a night to pause and pray together.
You can feel the buzz of excitement in this video—I know I could.
Also… yes, we were quietly making sure the lights turned on and the microphones worked. 😄
All for You, Jesus.
Hearing our church family sing “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand” in this room for the first time… whew.
It was full, it was loud (but not too loud), and it was just really, really sweet.
Also—can we talk about the LIGHT coming through those windows?? ☀️
Absolutely amazing… and also mildly blinding for a few. 😂
Don’t worry—shades coming soon!

My last day to take official Construction Update Photos 🥲🥳

Additional parking spaces coming to a lot near you! 🚗
Because circling builds character… but we’ve all grown enough.

Before anyone emails me—no, we didn’t forget the highway sign. 😄
It’s getting its upgrade next week.

Cocktail hour at Trinity!
…kidding, kidding. 😄
These are the tables where you’ll have a conversation with someone on a Sunday morning… and walk away with a new best friend.

A new place to hang out!!!
(In the spring, the fall… and that one perfect week in Texas.) 😄

And to wrap up this whole construction saga… what better photo than our Senior Pastor power washing the new entrance? 😄
Servant leadership. Like Jesus.
Let’s all be like Jesus.
(And like Pastor Eric… if you have a driveway that needs power washing.)
About These Updates
This is a casual, behind-the-scenes look at the Worship Center construction at Trinity. I’m Krista Gordon, Communications Director, armed with a phone camera and curiosity, a pretty consistent track record of confusing water pipes with electrical things, and an AI buddy who helps turn my construction confusion into comedy.
I may not know much about construction, but here’s one thing I do know: as Pastor Eric often reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1). Watching this Worship Center rise right outside our offices is a tangible reminder that our true foundation is built on Christ alone.
To Him be all the glory!
