Doors! With handles!
Which means we are now entering the very advanced stage of construction known as “things that open and close.”

This is Beth.
Beth is helping us with signs.

This is also Beth.
Helping demonstrate that this wall is approximately 17 Beths wide and 2.5 Beths tall.
Very helpful, Beth.

Beth points a lot.

(Case in point.)

(Beth has very strong opinions about sign placement.)

We love you, Beth!
(And Caleb! He works with Beth… so he’s used to the pointing.)

Speaking of things that go on the wall… sound panels!!
(Yes, that was the best transition I could come up with from signs to sound panels. Stop judging.)

Lots…

And lots…

And LOTS of sound panels!!!

And speakers that will BLOW YOUR SOCKS OFF!!
But with no echo.
Because of all the sound panels.

Well darn. I was excited to see Pastor Eric jump off the stage mosh-pit style.
Stairs are probably safer.

Future handicap sign posts.
Handicap parking will now be in front of the Student Ministry Building (soon to be known as the NextGen Building).
Also, note the diminutive lightpole that will illuminate this sidewalk.
You KNOW kids are going to try to leapfrog over that light.
You also know I am going to try it.
When no one is watching.
Because there is approximately a 90% chance of failure.
And before anyone asks…
no, you may not review the security camera footage. 🤨

Handrails!
Perfect for skateboarding tricks!
Just kidding.
Absolutely not.
(That is a 100% chance of failure.)

Either more things are being attached to the ceiling…
…or this guy is Atlas, doomed to hold up our ceiling forever.
I guess we’ll find out if he’s still there when the building opens.

Here’s a rail.
Just pointing it out.
I can’t think of anything else to say about it.

I noticed this little circle in the floor and asked Max what it was.
He explained it.
I understood about 60% of what he said.
But the important thing is…
I will never open it.

Coffee carts!!!!!!
Contrary to what their current location might suggest, we will not, alas, be serving coffee inside the Worship Center.
However, it will be available in the lobby!
After the lobby concrete is polished.
Which should happen soon!

AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!
(That was supposed to be the sound a choir sings at that big moment in a song when everything swells and gives you chills — which is exactly how it felt standing on the stage looking at the almost-finished Worship Center.)
But typed out, it mostly looks like the sound I make when a doctor is looking down my throat. 😂😂

Finally!!!!!!
AT&T has moved their cables.
We have approval from all the necessary authorities.
(Too many to list, I’m sure.)
Which means…
we’re getting a new campus entrance!

(This week…)

Doth mine eyes deceive me?

It looks like…
…we are getting a turn lane?!?!?!

WE ARE! WE ARE! 🎉
Turn lane photos courtesy of Alison Bean, who bravely hung halfway out of my car to document this historic moment.
(Before anyone calls HR: we were going about 10 miles an hour.)
(No coworkers were harmed in the making of these photos.)

CHAIRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my goodness.
Who knew chairs could make my heart go pitter-patter?
It’s gettin’ real, folks.
(Photo courtesy of Emily Davis — also a coworker, also unharmed in the taking of this photo.)

(Also this week…)

Initially, I was skeptical when I heard this slat-wall-thingy described as a windbreak.
(I have been mulling it over ever since.)
After an exhausting, highly scientific 30-second AI research session that pushed me to my intellectual limits, I can now confidently report that this feature is not a windbreak.
It is a wind diffuser.
According to my highly scientific AI summary:
“As wind passes through the gaps between slats, the uniform movement of the air is disrupted and ‘broken up,’ causing it to lose energy and velocity.”
Weirdly interesting.
Curious to hear your thoughts after you spend some time on The Porch — the outdoor area of the new Worship Center.

Those black sound panels on the stage walls blend in very nicely.
They are there to absorb sound so it doesn’t bounce all over the room.
In other words: no echo-o-o-o.

In case there was any doubt…
I am very excited about these chairs. 😄
And now that we have all these chairs…
I double dog dare you to sit somewhere different every Sunday and meet someone new.

About These Updates
This is a casual, behind-the-scenes look at the Worship Center construction at Trinity. I’m Krista Gordon, Communications Director, armed with a phone camera and curiosity, a pretty consistent track record of confusing water pipes with electrical things, and an AI buddy who helps turn my construction confusion into comedy.
I may not know much about construction, but here’s one thing I do know: as Pastor Eric often reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1). Watching this Worship Center rise right outside our offices is a tangible reminder that our true foundation is built on Christ alone.
To Him be all the glory!
