Marian (our Local Outreach Coordinator extraordinaire) captured this photo of a bluebonnet in front of the new Worship Center in September.
Yes, you heard me.
A bluebonnet in September!
That’s something only God can do.
And it’s the perfect picture of our prayer for this church—that God would do what only He can do.
Drew Witt (who some of you may remember as a guest pastor at Trinity recently) shared a story with me:
He told of a little boy who wanted to “help” his dad build a shelf for his mom. The boy brought his plastic hammer. Dad would start the nails, and the boy would pound away with all his might…with zero results. But every time the boy turned away, the dad would quickly hammer the nail a little deeper. Back and forth they went—plastic hammering, real hammering—until finally the nail was in. When the shelf was finished, the boy and his dad carried it to his mom. The boy beamed and told her, “Look at the shelf I built for you!”
Drew reminded me: all we really have are plastic hammers.
God is the one who does the real work.
And that’s exactly our posture with this building. We can swing our plastic hammers, but it will always be God who builds His church.
The One who can even grow bluebonnets in the fall.

The window frames are in!!
Emily and I were celebrating like, “Wow, the glass is already installed—and it’s so clean!”
…until we realized there’s no glass. Just frames.
Coming soon: actual windows. ????
Thursday, September 25

FINALLY.
Something so obvious I don’t even have to ask what it is!
Those, my fellow construction enthusiasts, are gate posts.
Mic drop. ????

Picking the mic back up (and dusting it off) because I wasn’t done with the update yet.
And here we have… rolls of insulation!
For the roof!
Mic drop.
Kidding, kidding. Still going.

Well, our escape hatch is about to get a lot less exciting.
I was picturing Joel (our Worship Pastor) leaping out of here like a parachute instructor jumping from a plane.
But no. He’ll just… step out and walk down some stairs.
Talk about anticlimactic.

On the plus side, watching stairs get built is really interesting.
Right now it just looks like a big wooden box, which makes me wonder…
Are they going to pour the whole thing full of concrete, so it’s one giant block with steps on top?
Or will the concrete just be the outer shell, and the inside stay hollow??
Either way, I’ll report back. Because the suspense is real.

The wall…
…is gray.
Mic drop. (Okay, okay… I’ll stop doing that. ????)

Y’all!
I finally figured out what that chicken-coop-wire stuff is for!
And it’s not, as we previously thought, actually for chicken coops.
(And by “we,” I mean “me.” But in my defense—it really does look like chicken coop wire.)

It’s actually a wire tray! Uhhh… a pipe catcher! A don’t-let-that-stuff-fall-on-my-head thingy!
(Obviously, I’ve already forgotten what Max said it’s actually called.)
If you zoom in on that yellow outline, you’ll see the chicken-coop-wire-looking stuff is actually a tray under the pipes. Those pipes will carry electricity for the lights, speakers, and everything else in the Worship Center.
At least, I’m pretty sure that’s what those pipes do. Let’s call it 67.43% sure

This walkway is just begging for someone to run down it.
Except for that bucket.
I’d 100% trip over that bucket.
That’s all, folks! Have a great week!!! It’s fall, y’all!!
About These Updates
This is a casual, behind-the-scenes look at the Worship Center construction at Trinity. I’m Krista Gordon, Communications Director, armed with a phone camera and curiosity, a pretty consistent track record of confusing water pipes with electrical things, and an AI buddy who helps turn my construction confusion into comedy.
I may not know much about construction, but here’s one thing I do know: as Pastor Eric often reminds us, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1). Watching this Worship Center rise right outside our offices is a tangible reminder that our true foundation is built on Christ alone.
To Him be all the glory!
