Another Homegrown Ministry
God plant seeds in His workers, and all He asks is that we obey. Back in the early 2000s, TBC member Shay Buttolph travelled to an orphanage in South Sudan, where she worked with children who were orphaned due to war. A seed was started in her to fill the need of orphans beyond with the orphanage could provide. God showed her his desire for these children was to have lifelong families. A ministry was born – Children of War-Children of Hope.
Through many, many trips from North Texas to South Sudan, Shay has developed a process and untied legal obstacles in order to begin placement of Sudanese orphans with families. It wasn't until 2009 that the first adoption took place. Then there were more years of waiting for a placement – two are currently in the works, but not complete.
In in the meantime, COW–COH has coordinated mission trips and provisions to be sent to the orphanages of Harvesters Reaching the Nations, and children are blessed with playground equipment and other needs. Working in tandem with HRTN, Shay is able to build on what others are doing and learn from their experiences.
Please pray for God to draw the right people to provide homes for His children, and that obstacles are overcome. The need is great, and is clearly seen on the face of each child. Pray that Shay and her husband, Dan, continue to run with endurance, that their faith and help are strong, and that the ministry is fruitful.
